1. Moscow
Stay
About the destination: Moscow, the sprawling capital of the Russian Federation, is a city where centuries of history meet bold modernity. Its skyline is crowned by the colorful onion domes of Saint Basil’s Cathedral and the imposing red walls of the Kremlin, while glass skyscrapers gleam in the Moscow City business district. Walking through the city center, you’ll find grand boulevards, ornate metro stations that resemble underground palaces, and wide squares that have witnessed some of the most significant events in Russian history. Begin your visit in Red Square, Moscow’s iconic heart. Here you can tour the Kremlin’s cathedrals and armory, admire Lenin’s Mausoleum, and explore GUM, the historic department store turned luxury shopping arcade. Nearby, the State Tretyakov Gallery offers a deep dive into Russian art, from medieval icons to avant‑garde masterpieces, while the Bolshoi Theatre invites you to experience world‑class ballet and opera in an opulent setting. Beyond the historic core, Moscow’s neighborhoods reveal a more intimate side of the city. Arbat Street, one of the oldest pedestrian avenues, is lined with cafés, street musicians, and souvenir shops. In contrast, the former industrial areas along the Moscow River have been transformed into creative clusters, with contemporary art centers, trendy restaurants, and lively nightlife. Parks like Gorky Park and Zaryadye provide green escapes, with bike paths, open‑air concerts, and panoramic views of the city. Moscow is a year‑round destination, but each season offers a different atmosphere. In winter, the city turns into a snowy wonderland with festive lights, ice rinks, and Christmas markets, while in summer, long daylight hours bring outdoor festivals and riverside promenades to life. Whether you’re drawn by history, culture, or urban energy, Moscow rewards curious travelers with a rich and multifaceted experience.

2. St. Petersburg
Stay
About the destination: Inextricably tied to the significant events of the Soviet Union, St. Petersburg cannot shake off its imperial history. Physically, at least, St. Petersburg has been the city of the tsars since Peter the Great established the city in a marshland and relocated the capital here from Moscow in 1712 to foster better connections with the West. Many of the major baroque and neoclassical buildings, well-planned streets, and landscaped parks are the creations of imperial French and Italian architects. St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia, is often referred to as Russia's Western Gate, and the City of White Nights. For a magnificent view of the city, ascend the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral on Isaakievskaya square, a grand example of 19th century civic-religious architecture; its dome is coated in pure gold. Nearby, on Senate Square overlooking the Neva, stands Falconet's Monument to Peter the Great. The Peter and Paul Fortress was established by Peter the Great and was constructed in just one year between 1703 and 1704 during the Great Northern War against Sweden. The fortress was never used for city defense but served as a political prison under the Tsar. Inside the fortress is the main attraction for visitors: the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul housing the tombs of Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, Nicholas II, and other tsars. Nevsky Prospect is St. Petersburg's main avenue and one of the most famous streets in Russia. The buildings along Nevsky Prospekt are a treasure trove for art nouveau enthusiasts. Nevsky Prospect is also the city's central shopping street and the hub of the city's entertainment and nightlife. Even if the rest of the city were non-existent, the Hermitage alone would warrant a week-long visit to St. Petersburg. Located in the magnificent, opulent Winter Palace, the former residence of the tsars, this art collection undoubtedly ranks among the world's finest. But before you delve into the art, take in the main halls where the tsar ruled and entertained, particularly the awe-inspiring Malachite Hall, where the provisional Government held its last meeting before the revolution erupted around it. Cool and aristocratic St. Petersburg is a splendid city with beautiful architecture everywhere. Often likened to the Venice of the North, St Petersburg is a city defined by water. Whether you're cruising the elegant canals, crossing one of the 342 bridges in the city, or simply watching them being raised over the mighty Neva River at night to allow ships to pass through, you're never far from water in St Petersburg.

4. Sochi
Stay
About the destination: Sochi is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, on the Black Sea coast near the border between Georgia/Abkhazia and Russia. Greater Sochi, which includes areas administered by the city, stretches for about 145 kilometers along the Black Sea near the Caucasus Mountains. Part of the so‑called Caucasian Riviera, it is one of the few places in Russia with a subtropical climate, featuring warm to hot summers and mild winters. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • Stalinist Empire‑style buildings – Sochi’s modern architectural era began with the 1934 master development plan, which led to many buildings in the grand Stalinist Empire style. • Loo Temple – Located on a hill away from the sea, this site was first built between the 10th and 12th centuries, rebuilt in the 14th century, and later turned into a fortress in the 15th–16th centuries. • Anchor and Cannon – The oldest monument in the city, erected in 1913. A 19th‑century cannon and an 18th‑century anchor commemorate the Russian victory in the Russo‑Ottoman War of 1828–1829. • Singing Fountains – Found in the city center at the corner of Kurortny Prospekt and Navaginskaya Street, at the entrance to Sochi Trade Gallery. The pool’s many water jets, together with sound and lighting systems, create “singing” and “dancing” water shows. • Olympic Countdown Clock – Installed and activated in May and June 2011, exactly 1,000 days before the start of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games. • Sochi Art Museum – Housed in one of Sochi’s most beautiful buildings, completed in 1936. It holds the largest art collection on the Black Sea coast and regularly expands its exhibits with works by local artists and solo exhibitions. • Sochi History Museum – One of the city’s oldest cultural institutions, opened in 1920. Its exhibits cover key stages of Sochi’s history, archaeological finds, local nature, and prominent figures. • Riviera Park – The largest and most popular public park in Greater Sochi, founded in 1898 and completely renovated a century later. Open year‑round, it hosts the Green Theatre, which regularly stages concerts and festivals. Its best‑known feature is Friendship Alley, created in 1960 and lined with trees planted by famous politicians, celebrities, and other notable people. • Dendrarium – Often considered the finest park on the Black Sea coast, it showcases a wide variety of tree species from different regions. • Frunze Park – One of Sochi’s oldest resort parks, located in the coastal area of Khosta district near the Dendrarium. It includes the Summer Theatre, sports facilities, and a striking cascading fountain.
